I had an awesome time in San Diego:

Sightseeing:

Balboa Park has lots of nice museums (aerospace, history, automobile, botanical, photography, etc. etc.), a Japanese Friendship Garden, courtyards, etc. etc. There's so much to see here that you would probably want to spend a day here. Sunday seems like the best day to go because that's when some of the concerts are playing and entry is free to see the international houses. There's a trolley that takes you from the parking lots to the museums. You want to start your day early here because things close at 4:30-5:00. Also, some of the museums are closed on Mondays.

La Jolla has a nice beach and stores. There are some nice art galleries to visit.

Mission Beach reminds me of Santa Cruz's Beach Boardwalk. There's a small carnival area and people dancing on rollerblades.

Gaslamp District for nice restaurants, shopping, and bars, lounges, and clubs.

Bars / Clubs:

Yardhouse is a nice bar / club. It's in the Gaslamp District. The bar is ground level, and the club (dance room) is downstairs. Entry is free. They played a variety of music, but mostly hip hop. There's a bar inside the dance room downstairs, plus lots of chairs and sofas!

On Broadway is a nice club on Broadway in San Diego's Gaslamp District. If you eat dinner there, you get to stay for clubbing for free. If not, you pay $20 to get in. The top floor is huge. There's a large bar, lots of tables, and a pretty good-sized dance floor with gogo dancers. Trance/dance is on the top floor. There's a lot of good stuff downstairs, too, like 4 more dance rooms. Inside the vault is another bar, lots of sofas and chairs, and the DJ spins some alternative music in there. Outside the vault is a dance floor where another DJ spins hip hop and R&B. There's a bar there, too. There's another hip hop room where you have to line up to get in. Inside are VIP areas, two more bars, some restrooms, lounge areas, plus a dance floor. The last room plays 80s music. It has another bar and lounge area.

These are some of the places I ate at in San Diego. They were all recommended to me by friends:

1. Dick's Last Resort
345 Fourth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101

If you want to go crazy at a restaurant, this is the place for you. The waiters are intentionally rude. This is a very loud place and napkins blow out of the air vents. Customers throw napkins at each other. They even have one of those stuff animal claw grabbers, but instead of stuffed animals, you're trying to pick up the live crabs. There's also someone making crazy balloon hats.

2. Rock Bottom Brewery
401 “G” Street San Diego, CA 92101

The food was a bit salty. I had some mushroom melt. It was pretty good, but too salty. They have a special selection of beer.

3. Rei do Gado
939 Fourth Avenue San Diego, CA 92102

Rei do Gado was a neat experience! The salad, pasta, and hot food buffet was great. I really enjoyed the selection, and the meat was pretty good! We went for dinner, so we tried all 15 of the meat they had to offer. My favorite was the chicken with cheese.

4. Croce's
802 Fifth Avenue San Diego, CA 92101

I ate lunch here. The menu was pretty small. The club sandwich and the calamari were pretty good. I'd probably eat somewhere else with a bigger selection.

I also had dim sum, but I can't remember where it was...

Most of the restaurants in the Gaslamp District have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
