In Good Housekeeping, a reader sent in a question: My clean-freak friend makes visitors take off their shoes before entering her home. Can I refuse if I know I won't track anything in?

What the heck is wrong with that person who sent in the question! I realize that different households require different things, but if you are a guest in someone's home, and they want you take off your shoes, then take them off!! I don't think that is much of a request. If you are concerned about your socks, ask if you can borrow a pair of slippers! Geez Louises!
