I invited my friend to an event this Thursday:

Her: Oops, sorry, can't make it this thursday
Her: It's Joe's retirement party
Me: What time is his thing?
Her: It's like 5 - whenever
Me: Come on, Jane.. it's a retirement party

Of course she can make it Thursday night. :P
